Thanks to increased funding from our Labour Government, plans to review library opening hours have been formally halted.
As a result of a higher-than-expected funding allocation in the Government’s Fair Funding Review, Mayor of Hackney Caroline Woodley has asked Hackney Council’s Cabinet to halt its review into reducing library opening hours.
In February, Hackney Central Library was officially opened following extensive refurbishment. With a £1million grant from our Labour Government, it is now a modern, welcoming space for everyone, featuring enhanced work and event spaces with improved accessibility.
"We are listening to residents, and we are acting to protect the services that make Hackney a fair and inclusive place to live." - Mayor Caroline Woodley
