Thanks to lobbying and engagement from Mayor of Hackney Caroline Woodley and Meg Hillier MP, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and Transport for London have agreed to reconsider the evidence base and wider impact of proposed changes to the 38 bus route.

The 38 bus route is an essential service for many in the Hackney community and the impact of the proposed changes on disabled passengers, older Londoners, families with young children and those travelling late or early would have been profound.

“The 38 bus route is essential to ensuring Hackney’s transport network serves everyone in our community. I look forward to working closely with Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan and TFL to ensure it’s protected” – Mayor Caroline Woodley

“Good news that the Mayor of London is acting on the concerns we’ve raised about the potential curtailment of the route 38 bus and has asked TfL to look again at the wider impact.

“The 38 bus route has served Hackney for over a century and remains a vital piece in Hackney’s public transport infrastructure. I’ll keep fighting to save our route 38.” – Meg Hillier, MP
