Hackney Labour budget turns the page on Conservative austerity
Hackney Labour budget turns the page on Conservative austerity

Hackney Council has officially approved a budget for 2026-27 driven by Labour values.

Led by Mayor Caroline Woodley, this year’s budget is bold, ambitious and balanced.

Hackney Labour will invest:

  • £23.5 million in street cleaning
  • £144 million to tackle homelessness
  • £156 million to support financially vulnerable residents
  • £31.7m on community investment and amenities

And over the next ten years we will invest £550 million in fixing up homes on Hackney’s estates.

This marks a significant turning point for Hackney. Austerity under the Conservative Government had reduced our budget by £156 million since 2010.

Thanks to this Labour Government, Hackney Council has received a £97 million boost in our funding for the period 2024/25-2028/29, ensuring we can continue delivering high quality services for residents and be there to support the most vulnerable in our community.
