Hackney Labour Group has elected a new leadership team to lead the Labour Group and the Opposition at Hackney Council. Cllr Anntoinette Bramble has been elected Group Leader and Cllr Anna Lynch has been elected Deputy Leader.

Anntoinette has served as a Hackney councillor for over 15 years and has become the first black leader of a group of councillors in Hackney’s history.

Cllr Anntoinette Bramble, Leader of the Hackney Labour Group

“I will harness the collective strength and experience of our Group to ensure we are holding the new administration to account. The Green Party made a lot of big promises in their election campaign and our job now is to ensure they actually deliver for residents.

I want to pay tribute to Caroline Woodley and the Hackney Labour councillors who weren’t re-elected for their dedication to our borough and the residents they served.

The results on 7 May were very disappointing for our Group and for everyone who has been proud of the improvements we have made to Hackney. We need to learn the lessons from our defeat, and we will.

As Leader I am committed to rebuilding trust with people in Hackney.

The work starts at the Hackney Central and Dalston by-elections on Thursday 25 June. We will be working to elect Labour councillors who will work hard for their community and keep the new Green Party controlled Council accountable.”
